The Tukwila Pool is over fifty (50) years old, nearing the end of its useful life, and is growing beyond capacity in programs. As a year-round indoor facility, there are ongoing needs and interests for additional aquatic spaces as well as significant health and safety upgrades to continue serving the community.

The Tukwila Pool aims to have a facility that will enhance our ability to better serve the Tukwila community by improving and expanding access to essential aquatic services.

Project Updates (October, 2026) ~

Capital Development Project – Where Things Stand

Selecting a site for the future aquatic facility is currently the District’s top priority. In June 2026, the Board of Commissioners adopted Resolution 2026-03 authorizing the Capital Development Project. Work is now focused on site selection and analysis, financial planning, pursuing additional funding, community outreach, and implementing the District’s Comprehensive Plan. TPMPD has been awarded a $5 million King County Aquatic Facilities Grant, and the grant agreement is pending execution. The Capital Development Fund is projected to have approximately $2.3 million remaining at the end of 2026, with an additional dedicated allocation expected each year. The Board is expected to act on the fund’s 2027 budget in December 2026. No final site or facility design has been established, and the site selection timeline will depend on site analysis, financial planning, and Board direction. For a more detailed timeline, please view the Vision and Future Timeline.

Community input is welcome throughout the project. You can attend Capital Development Committee meetings on the third Tuesday of each month at 4:00 p.m., or Board of Commissioners meetings on the second Monday of each month at 6:00 p.m. You can also share comments using the input button on the Vision and Future page. The planning process is not expected to affect current pool access or programs. Additional milestones will be shared as decisions and approvals are confirmed.
